Shopping for a crock pot?

Crock pots come in many different sizes and styles. One tip is to get one that has a removeable ceramic pot. This makes washing much easier. It can sit in the sink to be soaked if it has burnt food build-up. It can also be put in the dishwasher. Another tip is to get one with a glass, not plastic lid. There are also electronic versus manual-dial versions of crock pots. The crock pots with electronic controls and digital timers can be preprogrammed to begin cooking at a later determined time. The risk in preprogramming the cooking time is the spoiling of the mixed foods sitting idle at room temperature until that cooking process kicks on.
